Give Me Shelter Exhibition at the Weizenblatt Gallery

“Give Me Shelter” is an exhibition of photos of many of the 276 shelters on the Appalachian Trail.

Sarah Jones Decker, adjunct faculty at Mars Hill University and a certified through-hiker (2008), took the photos over a 2-year period in 2018-19, covering all seasons. The photos are part of her book, “The Appalachian Trail: Backcountry Shelters, Lean-Tos, and Huts.”

You will be amazed at the history, construction, and stories behind these Appalachian shelters.

Decker is a co-owner of Root Bottom Farm, located in Marshall, NC. The farm is not open to the public. You can visit them at the farmer’s market held in West Asheville on Tuesday afternoons.
