GOAT GLANDS & BANJO BANDS: THE TRUE STORY OF DR JOHN R BRINKLEY.
What do the Carter family, the Nazis, the FCC, the AMA, 12 million Depression dollars, goat glands, country music radio, rock and roll, and 16,000 pairs of gentlemen’s testicles have in common? The answer is Dr. John Romulus Brinkley.
Grammy Winner David Holt tells the amazing life story of the man known as the 'goat gland doctor', a quack (and native of Jackson County, NC) who nevertheless pioneered many innovations still in use today. Unfortunately for his patients, most of those innovations were in the field of using radio as a marketing tool. Come to a 'Sunday Set-in', and hear this amazing tale. A variety of goat related products will be available for purchase.  There will also be a raffle of fine Brinkley related material available to be won. In honor of Dr. Brinkley, we are selling raffle tickets at the astounding rate of $1 each, or 3 for $5! Amazing! How do we do it? Volume. Tickets $15 are available at 649-1301 or www.madisoncountyarts.com. 4 pm show. At the Arts Center. 90 S Main St. Marshall.
